About Giles Newman
Giles Newman is a fine art woodcarver, based in northern England and Wales, who carves nature-inspired art spoons and jewellery by axe and knife with naturally fallen wood.
Giles began teaching himself woodcarving in early 2015 as a way to spend more time in the small woodland that he manages in the mountains of North Wales. After twelve months he abandoned his life as a designer and photographer to pursue his passion full-time.
With a unique method, Giles uses only four tools – an axe, a carving knife, a spoon (aka hook) knife and a folding saw. This way, he can craft and carve from wherever he chooses.
